One of the most encouraging findings from the Rise2040 global conversations was the degree of optimism professionals expressed about the future, but participants were also candid about what could get in the way. The most cited barrier was, in participants’ own words, “ourselves.” Cultural inertia, doing things the same way we’ve always done them, was identified as a primary internal threat. The profession’s challenge is not simply to adopt new tools. It is to build new habits, new models, new expectations, and new measures of value.
