Does the NFP Section offer individual and firm memberships?
The NFP Section membership is an individual-based membership and not a firm-based membership.

What if several people in my firm want access to NFP Section content and webcasts?
Because NFP Section membership is an individual membership, each person would have to be an AICPA member and join the NFP Section. Please contact NFP staff at nfpsection@aicpa.org for more information and assistance.

When do I renew my NFP Section membership?
Section (and AICPA) membership renewals must be completed by July 31.

How do I renew my NFP Section membership?
Renew your NFP Section membership on your renewal notice or contact us by selecting the chat icon to the right of your screen, or visiting our help page for frequently asked questions and other contact information.

What is the cost to renew my NFP Section membership?
Current pricing is listed on the section membership page.

Why did I receive a section renewal notice? I only recently became an NFP Section member.
Section membership dues follow the same timeline and process as your general membership dues. (All membership renewal payments are due each year by July 31; the first renewal notices are sent in June.)

A section membership runs from Aug. 1 through July 31. Your initial dues are prorated based on the month you joined.

For example:

If you purchased a section membership in May, June or July 2022, your initial payment was prorated for 14, 15 or 16 months, respectively, to cover the remaining months in the 2021–22 membership year, plus the upcoming 2022–23 membership year. Your membership would expire July 31, 2023. This means you would not receive a renewal notice for section membership during the 2022–23 membership year.

If you purchased a section membership from January to April 2022, your initial payment was prorated to cover the remaining months in the 2021–22 membership year only, and your membership would expire July 31, 2022. This means you would receive a renewal notice for section membership during the 2022–23 membership year.

What types of resources does the NFP Section offer?
The NFP Section offers resources on not-for-profit accounting and financial reporting, assurance, tax compliance, and governance. These resources come in various formats, ranging from comprehensive toolkits, in-depth articles, and white papers to checklists, sample policies and templates. All are designed to promote industry best practices and help increase your technical knowledge and on-the-job efficiency.

As a board member of a not-for-profit, can I access the NFP Section’s resources?
Yes, as long as you are a member of the Section. If you are not a CPA, you can join as a non-CPA Associate of the AICPA and then add the NFP Section.

Does the NFP Section answer technical questions?
The AICPA NFP Section does not provide technical advice. However, we provide and can help you locate relevant guidance and resources.

• As an AICPA member, you also have access to the AICPA Technical Hotline.

Why can’t I download a specific resource?
Many of our resources are “NFP Section exclusives” and available only to NFP Section members. If you are a member and cannot access a resource, please email us at nfpsection@aicpa.org.

Can I view a recording if I miss a webcast?
Archived webcasts can be viewed and downloaded. You must attend the live session if you wish to view a webcast for CPE credit.

How do I register for a webcast?
Click on the link from the webcast calendar. It will open a registration page.

Section members who have elected to receive our NFP eAlerts are auto-enrolled for the complimentary webcasts and will receive details and instructions before each event via email.

How do I get CPE credit for the webcasts?
You are required to respond to 75% of the random attendance checks that will pop up on your screen. Disable all pop-up blockers on your computer to receive these checks.

Once you have responded to 75% of these random attendance checks, you can access your CPE certificate by tapping or clicking on the orange “Get CPE” button located in the webcast toolbar.

If you are eligible for but unable to print your CPE certificate at the end of the event, you will receive a post-event email with a link to your CPE certificate. Per NASBA, you cannot earn CPE by watching the archive of any AICPA webcast.

What discounts are available to me as a section member?

How do I take advantage of these discounts? Do I need special promo codes?
Discounts available on AICPA products and programs are applied automatically during the checkout process for your online order.

Why am I not receiving Not-for-Profit News Updates?
There are two common culprits:

• Check your spam folder and be sure to add both AICPA_NewsUpdate@e2.aicpa.org and aicpanfp@e2.aicpa.org to your safe senders list.

• Double-check your preferences located under your member profile settings. Make sure you are subscribed to

  • CPA Letter

  • Sections & Premium Subscriptions

  • Sections and Premium Subscriptions Holders

  • Not-for-Profit topic

Please note that “Unsubscribe from all email” will override any individual newsletter subscriptions. If you are still not receiving Not-for-Profit News Updates after checking these areas, please contact us.

How often do you send Not-for-Profit News Updates and eAlerts?
Not-for-Profit alerts are usually sent on a monthly basis. Occasionally, we send “special alerts” to relay breaking news or announcements that are time-sensitive or urgent.

I no longer wish to receive your eAlerts. How do I unsubscribe?
We’re sorry to hear that! Please let us know if there are changes that would make our NFP eAlerts more relevant for you. You can unsubscribe using the link provided at the bottom of each eAlert, or via your communication preferences, located under your member profile settings.
