3 October 2023, Warsaw – AICPA & CIMA, together as the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, teamed up with Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland (Uniwersytet Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej, UMCS) to launch the much-anticipated CGMA University Program to its students. Through this program, UMCS students can kickstart their careers by developing their accounting, finance, and business skills and earning prestigious professional qualifications alongside their university studies.
The CGMA University Program is open to all students currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance and accounting at UMCS. Students who complete all required courses and pass required Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (CIMA) CGMA exams, will be able to obtain either the Certificate in Business Accounting or Diploma in Management Accounting, which are official routes to completing CIMA’s CGMA Professional Qualification and becoming a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
Mariusz Kicia PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, UMCS, said:
“This is an important milestone for the Faculty of Economics at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. Firstly, it confirms that our program meets world-class professional standards and, even more importantly, it will enable our students to earn a globally recognised professional qualification in addition to their UMCS diploma.”
Jakub Bejnarowicz, Regional Director for Europe at AICPA & CIMA, said:
“Our qualifications are recognised and trusted by many of the biggest and best-known employers around the world. With the launch of our joint University Program at UMCS, we are offering their students the chance to develop skills and accelerate their way to earning the CGMA designation. We are very pleased to work with the city of Lublin, and are confident that the CGMA University Program at UMCS will lead to the development of a dynamic talent hub of business and finance professionals able to support economic growth in this part of the country.”
