WASHINGTON, D.C., August 18, 2026 – The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants which oversees member bodies AICPA and CIMA, today announced the appointment of Kathy King as Vice President, Communications & Reputation, effective August 17.

Based in Washington, D.C., King will lead the Association's global communications and reputation efforts, overseeing internal and external communications across its markets and stakeholder groups. Reporting directly to Mark Koziel, CPA, CGMA, AICPA President and CEO, she will be responsible for advancing and protecting the Association's global reputation while developing integrated communications strategies that support organizational priorities and deliver measurable business impact.

King returns to the Association after previously serving as its Senior Director, Reputation & External Affairs, where she helped strengthen the organization's voice on issues impacting the accounting and finance profession. She rejoins AICPA and CIMA from the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), where she led communications and brand strategy. Prior to that, she held senior communications leadership roles at PwC, CFA Institute, and other leading organizations.

"Kathy is a proven communications leader with deep experience in reputation management, executive communications, media relations and brand strategy," said Mark Koziel, CPA, CGMA, CEO, AICPA and CIMA. "Her understanding of our organization, the accounting and finance profession, and the stakeholders we serve make her exceptionally well positioned to lead our communications and reputation efforts during a period of significant transformation across business and the profession."

King brings more than 20 years of experience advising executives and organizations on corporate communications, reputation management, public affairs and brand strategy. Throughout her career, she has counseled senior leaders and helped organizations navigate complex issues while building trust and engagement among key audiences.

"I am excited to return to the Association and contribute to its mission at such an important time for the profession," said King. "The accounting and finance profession continues to play a critical role in fostering trust, transparency and informed decision-making. I look forward to working with colleagues and stakeholders across the organization to strengthen our reputation, support our members and students, and advance the profession globally."

King is an Institute for Public Relations trustee and holds an MBA from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Mary Washington.
