AICPA & CIMA sign Memorandum of Understanding with leading Romanian accounting body CECCAR
Bucharest (23 May 2023) – AICPA® & CIMA®, together as the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania (CECCAR) to provide accounting and finance professionals in Romania with the skills and mindset they need to drive business performance, guide strategic decision-making, and build successful careers.
This partnership is the first of its kind between AICPA & CIMA and CECCAR, highlighting the growing demand for accounting and finance professionals with an expanded skillset that includes strategic thinking, business partnering, and digital skills. Through the agreement, CECCAR members will be eligible to access AICPA & CIMA Continuing Professional Development (CPD) offering. In coming months, the two organisations will also explore opportunities to work more closely in areas such as thought leadership and events.
Robert-Aurelian Sova, CECCAR Vice-President, said: “CECCAR is the largest professional organisation of accountants in South-Eastern Europe. With a history of over 100 years, we capitalise on our traditions and experience to prepare and adapt for the future. Today, creative destruction and digital transformation are hitting businesses and the economy like a tsunami. As business facilitators, accountants are part of the solution. In this context, CECCAR and AICPA & CIMA, in a win-win cooperation, can make the accounting world a smarter and more efficient place for clients and companies.”
Jakub Bejnarowicz, Regional Director for Europe at AICPA & CIMA, said: “I am delighted that we are reinforcing our relationship with CECCAR through this new agreement. This is a historic partnership to develop the future of finance in Romania and marks an important milestone in the advancement of AICPA & CIMA’s operations in Europe. I believe this collaboration will play a key role in growing the recognition of the management accounting certification in Romania and offer current and future accounting finance and business professionals, a unique opportunity to strengthen their skillsets and enhance their employability.”
Nataliia Vovchuk, Head of South-East Europe, AICPA & CIMA, added: “Throughout its history, CECCAR has significantly invested in the development of professional education in Romania. I would like to thank CECCAR, in particular CECCAR’s vice-president Robert-Aurelian Sova, for supporting AICPA & CIMA’s initiatives in the country over the past two years. This MoU, which covers areas such as knowledge sharing and continuing professional development, provides us with a more formalised path to build a thriving accounting and finance profession in Romania.”
