Washington, DC (May 14, 2025) – The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA®) announced today that Andrew Mintzer, CPA, has been named the recipient of the prestigious 2025 AICPA Gold Medal Award of Distinction. The award recognizes Mintzer’s lasting impact on the profession, his significant contributions to accounting and auditing standards, and his decades-long role as a passionate advocate for the profession.
The Gold Medal Award of Distinction is the highest honor bestowed by the AICPA and is presented annually to an individual whose achievements have left a profound and enduring mark on the accounting profession. Mintzer was presented with the honor at the spring meeting of the AICPA Governing Council, with the award presented by Past Chair, AICPA and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants Okorie L. Ramsey, CPA, CGMA, PMP, NACD.DC.
“Andy’s dedication, his passion for the accounting profession, and his unwavering commitment to ethics and the public interest make him a true role model,” said Ramsey. “He has taken on some of the most complex challenges in standards-setting and has helped guide the profession’s ethical framework. It is my great pleasure to present this award to Andy, and I have no doubt he will continue to influence the future of our profession.”
Mintzer has made a lasting contribution to the profession through his work with the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), the Auditing Standards Board (ASB), and the AICPA’s Accounting Standards Executive Committee. His leadership has helped shape the development of key standards and has provided a powerful voice for the profession.
A principal in the Forensic and Financial Consulting Services Group at Hemming Morse in Los Angeles, Mintzer’s career spans more than 40 years. He has served a diverse range of industries, with a primary focus on auditing and litigation services. His efforts have helped elevate forensic accounting, emphasizing its value in serving the public interest.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mintzer is widely recognized as a mentor and educator. He has played a central role in developing accounting and auditing education programs and currently serves as an instructor at the National Judicial College.
