Supporting university students with power skills on and beyond the pitch
CIMA and England Touch kick off play at Nottingham University campus this weekend
26 February 2026, London – The 2026 England Touch Rugby National Universities Championships season, proudly sponsored by The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), kicks off this weekend at the Nottingham University campus. With 550 plus students, more than any other year, gearing up to compete over the next two months, excitement is building as 40 teams prepare to battle it out for a place in the finals on 21 March.
Paul Turner, Vice President – UK and Ireland, said: “It’s great to be back supporting England Touch in what is set to be an even better and more exciting season. The competition gives university students the perfect opportunity to excel in teamwork, leadership, and resilience – all skills that are essential to thrive in today’s fastmoving workplace. Wishing every team the very best of luck. Enjoy the competition, play with passion, and most importantly, have fun.”
Vince Mayne, CEO of England Touch, said: “A thriving BUCS University Touch Championship is core to England Touch’s vision. We have seen consistent growth over the last few years, both in the number of teams as well as University players representing our regions and national teams. Our partnership with CIMA is helping us build a strong, connected community that develops the next generation of leaders, both on and off the pitch.”
CIMA renewed its partnership with England Touch last October, reinforcing their joint commitment to developing future leaders through sport and business. The agreement compliments the parallels between the two – teamwork, communication, resilience, and strategic thinking, while elevating Touch Rugby as a sport of choice across UK universities.
