The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the world’s leading and largest professional body of management accountants, and the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have renewed their collaboration for a further three years. The renewed agreement will enable new cohorts of finance and accounting students to access the CGMA Finance Leadership Program, the fully digital, flexible pathway to study for the CGMA Professional Qualification and earning the CGMA designation, the most widely held management accounting designation in the world.
Paul Aninakwah, ACMA, CGMA, Country Director – Ghana, at The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), said:
“We are pleased to renew our partnership with the University of Cape Coast, furthering our shared commitment to developing Ghana’s future finance and business leaders. Through the CGMA Finance Leadership Program, we empower UCC students to build the skills needed to embrace innovation, manage disruption, and drive sustainable growth in Ghana and the African continent. This program offers a great pathway into the profession, enabling aspiring finance professionals to build thriving careers in finance and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of business in Ghana.”
Professor Denis Worlanyo Aheto, Acting Vice Chancellor – University of Cape Coast, added:
“Our collaboration with CIMA is a testament to our shared vision of preparing students not only with robust finance knowledge, but also with the essential power skills such as analytical and problem-solving, and adaptability that today’s employers demand. By combining academic excellence with workplace readiness, we are equipping our students to thrive and lead in a rapidly evolving business landscape. I am excited to see the positive impact this partnership will continue to have on our students’ professional journeys.”
In addition to the renewed collaboration, the two organisations continue to champion initiatives that empower students at UCC to become agile and forward-thinking finance leaders. Most recently, the CGMA Business Games, an experiential business competition created by CIMA for finance and accounting students, immersed more than 500 participants in practical scenarios through interactive simulations based on real-world business challenges. The challenges included addressing sustainability issues, leveraging artificial intelligence to boost efficiency, and developing strategies to create competitive advantages.
By bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice, the CGMA Business Games equip students with essential skills and knowledge to excel in the workplace. This initiative also highlights CIMA’s commitment to developing finance and business leaders who are well prepared to succeed in the dynamic business environment and contribute positively to Ghana’s economy.
