4 August 2026, Scotland – The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) congratulates students across Scotland receiving their Advanced Highers, Highers and National 5 results today. With pass rates rising across all levels and a record number of National 5 passes achieved, today’s results mark an important milestone as students consider their next steps in education, training and employment.
Today’s results are also a reminder that the world of work is changing rapidly. Automation, artificial intelligence and new technologies are reshaping the skills employers need. Alongside formal qualifications, qualities such as adaptability, lifelong learning, critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills are becoming increasingly important.
According to Rise2040, a profession-wide AICPA and CIMA initiative drawing on 6,000 global insights, accounting and finance professionals will need more than AI, data fluency and critical thinking skills. To keep pace with changing business models and workforce expectations, they must also be adaptable and committed to continuous learning.
