15 May 2026, Accra – The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the world’s leading professional body of management accountants, hosted its 2026 Health Walk at the University of Ghana, bringing together CIMA members, CGMA students, finance and accounting students, and key stakeholders for a day focused on community, connection and wellbeing.

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, the Health Walk has become part of CIMA Ghana’s annual calendar, reflecting the Institute’s commitment to fostering a strong professional community and supporting the wellbeing of finance professionals alongside their professional development.

Paul Aninakwah, ACMA, CGMA, Country Director – Ghana at The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, said:

“The Health Walk continues to show the value of creating spaces where our members, students and partners can connect beyond the workplace. By combining professional engagement with wellbeing, we are reinforcing the importance of staying informed, connected and resilient as the profession navigates rapid change and growing complexity.”

Ibrahim Osumanu, ACMA, CGMA, Chairman, West Africa Area Committee – Ghana, commented:

“Initiatives like the Health Walk remind us that wellbeing is fundamental to sustaining a strong professional community. Creating space for our CGMA community in Ghana to connect and support one another helps maintain the sense of belonging and mutual support the profession depends on.”

Participants took part in a 5km walk across the university campus, followed by a guided aerobics session designed to encourage healthy habits, interaction, and a strong sense of community. The event also provided opportunities for open engagement on CIMA’s initiatives in Africa, including:

  • Engage365, global community platform connecting members and CGMA students to share exchange ideas, share resources, and shape the profession together;

  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes supporting finance professionals in a rapidly evolving business and economic environment; and

  • ENGAGE Africa 2026, the next African edition of the global ENGAGE Conference series is set to take place from 28 to 30 October 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa.
