AICPA advocacy around CPA licensure legislation is not new.

Professional licensure ensures that CPAs meet rigorous education, examination, and experience requirements: All CPAs complete the same amount of credit hours. All CPAs take the Uniform CPA Exam. All CPAs maintain continuing professional education (CPE).

Standardization fosters CPA mobility — CPAs can work across state lines in 53 U.S. jurisdictions without providing notification or paying additional fees. CPA firms can operate the same way in 26 states.
