In this role, she will lead and implement strategic initiatives around technical and policy recommendations for improvement of the federal tax process. She will also be a principal liaison for the Association with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Treasury Department.

Lauridsen joined the organization in 2011 as a Manager of Tax Policy & Advocacy and managed the AICPA’s IRS Advocacy Relations Committee for 10 years. She previously served as Director, Tax Practice & Ethics.

Melanie’s contributions to the profession in creating an advantageous environment for the profession's priorities have been significant and I look forward to the tax advocacy team’s increased success under her leadership,” said Association Executive Vice President for Advocacy, Mark Peterson. “I believe Melanie’s extensive experience will drive the Association’s tax advocacy efforts to greater heights and increase our influence among tax-governing agencies and the profession.”
