Free Nov. 1 Webcast by Global Accounting Association Features Herjavec Group Founder
NEW YORK – Massive data breaches at Equifax, Yahoo!, Target and other businesses prove cybersecurity is no longer an IT problem – it’s a critical business issue for companies. To help executives and accounting professionals gain insight into cybersecurity trends and best practices, the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (the Association) will hold a free webcast on Nov. 1 with Robert Herjavec, a leading star of ABC’s ‘Shark Tank’ and founder and CEO of the Herjavec Group, a global information security company.
“Cybersecurity is a top concern for boards and businesses of every size and in every industry now, and rightly so,” Herjavec said. “Data protection is demanded by shareholders, customers and regulators, and companies need help in defining appropriate industry standards in threat prevention, detection and response.”
Providing solutions for organizations to tighten data security and demonstrate the soundness of their programs is a top priority for the Association. This past spring, the American Institute of CPAs, part of the Association, introduced a cybersecurity risk management reporting framework. The framework provides a common language for companies to voluntarily describe their cybersecurity efforts to investors and other stakeholders, as well as guidance for CPAs to examine and report on that information.
What: The webcast, Beat the Breach: Cybersecurity Expert and Shark Tank Star Robert Herjavec Talks Data Protection, will feature a conversation between Herjavec and Barry C. Melancon, CPA, CGMA, chief executive of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants.
When: Noon to 1 p.m. EDT, Nov. 1, 2017
Who: The webcast is designed for business executives, IT security officers, risk officers, internal auditors, cloud service providers, corporate board members, and CPAs and their clients.
