Beginning in July 2027, the CPA Exam will transition to a new technology delivery platform, accompanied by changes to the user interface. These changes will require an adjusted test administration and score release schedule.

Why is the CPA Exam moving to a new delivery platform?
Technology evolves, and so should the systems that support one of the CPA profession’s key milestones.
The transition makes it easier to adapt as technology and testing needs continue to evolve.
Some of the biggest advantages of the new platform include enhanced accessibility, an improved processing cycle, and more modernized exam experience for all users.
What happens during the transition?
As with any major technology upgrade, moving from one platform to another requires careful planning.
To ensure all candidate data is processed correctly before launching the new system, CPA Exam testing will temporarily pause during the transition.
Current target dates include:
July 1–11, 2027:
CPA Exam testing blackout period.
July 12, 2027:
Testing resumes on the new platform.
During the blackout period, no CPA Exam appointments will be available. The pause allows exam administrators to complete processing from the previous testing window, retire the legacy system, and launch the new platform.
If you’re planning to sit for the CPA Exam during summer 2027, it’s a good idea to factor these dates into your study and scheduling plans.
How could candidates be affected?
The updated exam interface changes how candidates interact with exam content. Even seemingly small adjustments (such as changes to navigation, accessibility features, or screen layout) can influence how exam questions perform statistically.
Before scores can be reported, exam administrators must recalibrate exam items using real candidate response data collected after the new platform launches. This process ensures that scoring remains accurate, valid, and fair for everyone taking the CPA Exam.
Because recalibration takes time, there will be an adjustment to the score release schedule for 12 months following the launch.
