A collaborative study by the Università Politecnica delle Marche and Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies delves into the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and associated targets within supply chains. Employing a multiple case study approach, the research explores methods for measuring and assessing the impact of these initiatives on SDGs.
Supply chains play a crucial role in advancing the societal progress demanded by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Companies are urged to take a broader view by evaluating their supply chains’ contribution to sustainable development. This research introduces a four-step assessment framework for companies to extend SDGs throughout their supply chains. The study highlights challenges in identifying performance measures related to SDG targets during tender processes and emphasizes the importance of a rating system to assess suppliers’ SDG-related performance. Additionally, initiatives like supplier engagement, training activities, and performance measurement contribute to valuable partnerships in achieving common SDG targets.
