The Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), enacted December 27, 2020, expanded the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) to make it available to eligible entities that received funds under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and extended the credit through June 30, 2021.

On March 1, 2021, the IRS released Notice 2021-20, which addresses the ERC that applies to qualified wages paid after March 20, 2020 and before January 1, 2021 (aka ERC 2020). On April 2, 2021, the IRS released Notice 2021-23,
