Ryan McDonough, Ph.D., CPA, is an assistant professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at Rutgers Business School — Newark and New Brunswick. His research, which addresses governmental accounting and auditing issues, has received several awards, including GASB’s Gil Crain Memorial Research Grant.
Ryan teaches public sector accounting, auditing, and forensic accounting topics for doctoral students and students in the governmental accounting master’s program. He is currently serving on the Executive Committee of the Government and Nonprofit Section of the American Accounting Association.
Ryan’s professional experiences include roles at GASB and PwC. He spent one year in GASB’s Postgraduate Technical Assistant Program after completing his undergraduate studies. More recently, he joined GASB as a part-time academic fellow. Prior to entering academia, he worked at PwC in New York as a senior associate in the Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services group.
Ryan is a CPA in New York. He earned a Ph.D. in accounting at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Rutgers Business School.
