This non-authoritative AICPA Governmental Audit Quality Center (GAQC) practice aid provides an overview of the requirements of Government Auditing Standards, 2018 Revision (also referred to as the Yellow Book or GAGAS). It addresses common questions the GAQC frequently receives from practitioners when they are newer to performing audits under the Yellow Book. Topics covered are in the form of questions and answers and include:
What Government Auditing Standards are and when they are required;
Auditor's additional responsibilities when conducting an audit in accordance with GAGAS;
CPE requirements when conducting an audit in accordance with GAGAS; and
Required elements related to findings in a GAGAS report.
