Eligibility requirements

The Accounting and Finance Associate Registered Apprenticeship Program is federally registered with the U.S. Department of Labor and can be offered nationwide, subject to employer readiness and state specific requirements.

Apprentices must hold a high school diploma or GED and meet applicable federal and state minimum age requirements. In most cases, apprentices are at least 18 years of age.

What does the program entail?

This structured Registered Apprenticeship program combines full-time, paid employment with progressive on-the-job training, dedicated mentorship at the employer’s site, and virtual, self-paced related instruction delivered through the Chartered Global Management Accountant® (CGMA®) Finance Leadership Program (FLP).

The CGMA® FLP is a guided digital learning and assessment pathway designed to accelerate the development of finance business leaders. It builds competency across technical, business, digital, people, and leadership skill areas aligned to real-world finance responsibilities.

At the same time, apprentices participate in a defined on-the-job training plan aligned to the Registered Apprenticeship Standards, allowing them to apply newly developed competencies in real time under the guidance of a qualified mentor. This blend of structured work experience and related instruction supports progressive skill development and measurable career advancement.

Apprentices are regular employees of the organization, with roles structured for progressive skill development aligned to the Registered Apprenticeship Standards.

Upon completion of the program, apprentice will earn a Certificate in Accounting and Finance from the AICPA.

Apprentices interested in pursuing the CGMA designation may be eligible to continue into the Finance Business Partner program.

What is the pricing for the program?

Pricing for the one-year program: $2,995 per employee, paid by the organization.

Funding opportunities, including grants and tax incentives, may be available in certain states or jurisdictions. Availability and eligibility requirements vary, and we can assist organizations in determining whether these resources may be available based on their location and program structure.

What can firms and organizations expect upon registration?

Upon registration, an AICPA representative will contact you and guide you through each stage of the apprenticeship program. The AICPA will help ensure your program runs smoothly and meets all standards.
