Kathleen Koehl
As a Risk Control Consultant, Kat supports CNA's Accountants Professional Liability program — the largest of its kind globally and endorsed by the AICPA. Kat works directly with CPA firm owners and leaders to help navigate challenging situations, implement risk management best practices, and mitigate the risk of a professional liability claim. Kat also works cross-functionally to develop educational content and practical risk management tools. Kat previously spent over nine years working at a middle market public accounting firm, specializing in tax credits and incentives. This included a two-year expatriate assignment in London where she served as a subject matter expert on US tax matters and helped build the firm's global tax credit capabilities. Kat holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Accounting from The Ohio State University. She is an Elijah Watt Sells Award recipient and holds active CPA licenses in Illinois and Michigan.
Kevin Hayes
MBA, CPA
Kevin is a Risk Control Consultant for the Accountants Professional Liability Insurance Program of Continental Casualty Company, a CNA company and the underwriter of the AICPA Professional Liability Insurance Program. He previously served audit clients for six years with both national and regional public accounting firms. In his role at both national and regional public accounting firms, Kevin provided external audit and attest services to for-profit clients in a variety of industries, including commercial manufacturing, commercial rail, oil and gas, marketing, and tech. In addition to for-profit clients, Kevin also provided audit services for not-for-profit audits, yellow book audits, and employee benefit plan audits. Kevin currently provides risk control consulting services for CPA firms in the AICPA program. He participates in the development and delivery of risk management training and education products including the live risk management seminar and self-study programs, as well as other tools to assist CPA firms in managing their professional liability risk.
Deborah K. Rood
CPA
Deb is a Risk Control Consulting Director for the Accountants Professional Liability Insurance Program of Continental Casualty Company, a CNA company and the underwriter of the AICPA Professional Liability Insurance Program. She previously practiced public accounting for 16 years with a regional public accounting firm. As a state and local tax (SALT) practice leader with a regional public accounting firm, Deb provided consulting and compliance services to clients in a variety of industries including but not limited to manufacturing, distribution, professional services and transportation. She has conducted presentations at various AICPA and state CPA society conferences and has authored numerous articles. Deb provides risk control consulting services for CPA firms in the AICPA program. She participates in the development and delivery of risk management training and education products including the live risk management seminar and self-study programs.
Sarah B. Ference
CPA
Sarah is a Risk Control Director for the Accountants Professional Liability Insurance Program of Continental Casualty Company, a CNA company and the underwriter of the AICPA Professional Liability Insurance Program. She previously practiced public accounting for 15 years with a national public accounting firm.
