The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was first signed into law in March 2020 with the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act to assist small businesses weather the storm of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Travis Miskowitz
Travis is a Manager in the CFO Advisory Group for Wiss, a major 100 firm located in Florham Park, NJ. Following the CARES Act since the bill was passed in 2020, Travis is a PPP expert having appeared on 3 AICPA Town Hall events discussing emerging issues and Wiss’ client first approach in dealing with the PPP loan program. A frequent contributor to national publications including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Insider, and Money magazine, Travis is often called upon to provide clarity and relevant/tactical guidance around the PPP. In his day to day role at Wiss, Travis is an experienced CFO with startup to mid-size companies involved in financial services, e-commerce, hospitality, and real estate. He is responsible for providing traditional CFO services including: Financial Planning and Analysis, fundraising, pre and post M&A activities, strategic planning, budgeting, and risk management.
Kari Hipsak
CPA, CGMA
Kari Hipsak, CPA, CGMA is a Senior Manager with the Firm Services team at the AICPA. Prior to joining the AICPA’s Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) in North Carolina, Kari started her public accounting career in South Dakota and later worked for a firm in New York City where she focused on A&A clients in an array of industries. She has been an active advocate of the CPA profession since her time as a student at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD and is currently a member of the NC Association of CPA’s Young CPA Cabinet. In 2020, Kari was honored as a member of CPA Practice Advisor’s “40 Under 40” program. Kari leads PCPS resource creation for accounting and auditing emerging issues, manages PCPS IT resources, including cybersecurity, oversees the G400 initiative, and maintains the AICPA alliance with firm associations and networks. Most recently, Kari has been committed to resource development surrounding the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
