Brent Schutte
CFA
Brent G. Schutte is Chief Investment Officer of Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company. In this role, he oversees the Company's retail investment strategy, which represents more than $277 billion in client assets. Brent is responsible for Northwestern Mutual's retail investment philosophy through investment policy, asset allocation, and research. He also communicates the Company's investment perspectives to Northwestern Mutual's field members, clients, and the public. Brent is a frequent expert commentator in national news outlets including CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Fox Business, and Yahoo Finance. Brent's innate sense of curiosity, natural skepticism, and more than 28 years of investment experience help guide his ability to uphold Northwestern Mutual's retail investment philosophy — keeping clients focused on their long-term investment plan and financial goals. Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual, Brent served as Senior Investment Strategist and Portfolio Manager for BMO Global Asset Management. He provided global tactical asset allocation research across a wide spectrum of the firm's portfolio. He managed the firm's multi-asset income fund and separate accounts, target risk portfolios, and Canadian tactical funds. Earlier in his career, Brent managed private client assets at BMO Harris Private Bank in Chicago, both as a Portfolio Manager and as a Senior Global Market Strategist with responsibility encompassing the bank's overall investment philosophy and strategy. Brent holds the CFA® designation, a bachelor's degree in finance from University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, and an MBA with high honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He was awarded membership in the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society. Brent serves on the investment committee of One Hope United, a not-for-profit organization focused on protecting children and strengthening families. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two young children.
Charles Mondesir
CPA
Charles Mondesir is Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer of Northwestern Mutual and is a finance executive with extensive leadership experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual, he served as the Global Controller for Chubb's International Life Insurance segment where he led the accounting, treasury, and finance operations. Prior to joining Chubb, he held several roles at Prudential, across Controllership and Financial Planning and Analysis. He also held numerous finance roles at Guardian Life and American International Group (AIG). He began his career as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and KPMG, where he credits his keen focus on documentation and controls. Charles received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Temple University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), graduated from the AICPA Leadership Academy and is a member of the AICPA CFO Conference Planning Committee. He is also a member of the National Association of Black Accounts (NABA) and participated in NABA-NY's Professional Development Committee. Charles was born in Haiti and raised on Long Island, New York, where he currently resides. He loves to spend his leisure time with his wife, Tira and their two children.
