Damian Rivera
MBA
Damian Rivera serves as ALPFA’s CEO since September 2018. Prior to ALPFA, Damian Rivera was a Managing Director in Accenture’s Resources Utilities practice for 21 years where he started his career as a coder in their Technology Practice. While at Accenture, Damian focused on Customer Care Transformation work for utilities including helping clients with strategically pivoting to digital capabilities as they look to improve customer engagement. Damian has performed Digital Transformation Strategy and Implementation, Customer Information System builds, Utility Customer Analytics as well as Customer Care operations work. Through these engagements he worked on all project phases including Strategy Development, System Implementation, Business Process Definition as well as Operations. Damian holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from Rutgers University – College of Engineering and MBA from Columbia University specializing in Social Entrepreneurship. Damian’s focus on social entrepreneurship would come as no surprise to people who know him. In addition to his client roles he served as Accenture’s Managing Director responsible for North American Hispanic American Employee Resource Group from 2011 - 2017. In this role he led the strategic direction across the US engaging in internal career progression as well as local market activities focused on improving the local community in which the ERG is based. Damian also served as the Office Diversity Advocate for Metro New York, which focuses on improving employee engagement across all of Accenture’s Metro New York based resources. Damian also serves on the National Board of Directors of Per Scholas, whose mission is to “Break the cycle of poverty by providing technology education, access, training and job placement services for people in underserved communities”. In 2018, Damian was listed in Latino Leaders Magazine, as a member of their Top 101 Most Influential Latinos list. In 2019 Damian was selected to serve on the Young Alumni Board of Columbia Business School. In addition to his non-profit and diversity work, Damian is an angel investor having invested in tech start-ups with a social purpose mission. Damian is married to his high school sweetheart Idanis, and has 2 children, Damian Francisco, 18, and Ilanis, 15. When not working, Damian enjoys watching his son run track, and watching his daughter’s artistic talents in photography. Damian also enjoys triathlons, having completed the NYC Triathlon
Victor Amaya
CPA
Victor Amaya is the Director of Partner Fulfillment at Botkeeper. Prior to joining Botkeeper Victor owned and ran ClearPath Advisors, an accounting firm geared toward providing small business advisory and tax services, and financial interpretation to drive strategy and growth for their business. Victor’s passion is to advocate for the profession to see technology as an enhancer of services and will help CPAs focus on being trusted advisors. Victor has served as Chair of the Board for the Colorado State Society of CPAs, as member of the PCPS Executive Committee with the AICPA and a current Member of AICPA’s council. Aside from volunteering within the CPA profession, Victor has served in various non-profit boards, currently serving as Treasurer for Vega Collegiate Academy, a public charter school in Aurora Colorado that helps provide a school of choice to a very diverse population of students.
Jessica Velasquez
CPA, CFE
Jessica is a cannabis and social justice advocate who has spent much of her 20- year career advocating for women and minority business owners. She’s the firm’s main authority on cannabis specific tax matters such as IRC 280E and IRC 471. Jessica also represents clients in federal audit and collection cases. She’s also bilingual and represents Spanish-speaking clients. Jessica started her own firm in 2014 after gaining experience at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Zappos and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Jessica earned a Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Illinois University. She is actively involved in several professional organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Tax Professionals. In her free time, Jessica loves to read, travel, and spend time with her family. She is also a Jeopardy and NPR junkie.
Becky Sproul
MBA, CPA
Becky is currently the Talent and Culture Leader for Audit. She is focused on developing next generation auditors, by enhancing the data and analytics (D&A), technology, project management and communications skills of KPMG’s audit professionals. She continues to invest in the KPMG culture by developing and implementing people-focused initiatives to support the wellbeing of the professionals and foster a diverse and inclusive workplace. In addition, Becky is the Partner-in-Charge (PIC) of the Coastal Business Unit audit practice for the ten-office region including Charlotte, Fort Lauderdale, Greensboro, Greenville, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Raleigh, San Juan and Tampa. As Coastal Business Unit PIC, Becky is responsible for operational, financial, personnel and client care matters for the Coastal audit practice, overseeing over 450 professionals. Becky has more than 28 years of experience providing financial statement and internal control audit service, as well as performance improvement advisory services to clients in a variety of industries. Becky has provided professional services in accordance with regulatory standards to numerous companies. Her audit experience includes planning and managing financial statement audits for publicly and privately held companies, reviewing SEC filings, researching accounting technical issues, while managing and developing engagement personnel. She has also been involved in numerous debt and equity offerings. From 2013 through 2017 Becky was KPMG’s National Managing Partner, University Relations and Recruiting. In this role, she was responsible for KPMG’s national recruiting strategy and execution, including faculty relations. Becky is a KPMG national instructor for audit methodology and leadership courses and is a presenter and panelist at numerous CPE seminars and open forum discussions on accounting and auditing matters. Becky was a member of the AAA’s Auditing Section Executive Committee. Becky is an advisory board member of KPMG’s Hispanic Latino Business Resource Group and a board member of The PhD Project. Becky holds both an MBA and a Bachelor of Accounting from Florida International University, where she is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council. She is a member of the AICPA and is a licensed CPA in Florida and Puerto Rico
