Meeting net zero goals

The number of businesses with net zero commitments has rapidly increased since COP26, the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, and now covers 92% of the global economy.

Aligning operations with emerging net zero policy and regulation is vital. It is an exciting and essential opportunity to attract top talent, mitigate supply chain risks, and future-proof strategies. But what does "good net zero" mean for businesses?

Recent Oxford Net Zero research has mapped criteria of net zero governance across 37 different voluntary guidance documents, orchestration campaigns and disclosure frameworks.

This webcast will cover:

  • The basic science and economics of net zero
  • The existing landscape of voluntary net zero pledges, standards and emerging regulation

It will include a discussion among leading experts studying climate and business, touching on the important reframing of net zero as a strategic business opportunity.

The event is hosted by Mary Johnstone-Louis, Senior Fellow in Management Practice at the University of Oxford Saïd Business School and co-director of the online Oxford Leading Sustainable Corporations and on-campus Oxford Sustainable Business programs.

The webcast is the third in a series co-hosted by the University of Oxford's Saïd Business School and AICPA & CIMA, as part of a partnership that includes a joint quarterly online course on ESG and Sustainable Financial Strategy.
