Michael Mattick
CPA, EA
Michael R. Mattick is the founder of Mattick CPA, P.C., a boutique tax, accounting, and advisory firm based in Binghamton, New York. He brings over 30 years of experience in public accounting, having launched the firm in 2023 after a career that included time as a CFO for an aviation company and deep roots in family tax practice — his career in the field traces back to his grandmother's tax practice in Charlotte, NC, founded in 1949. Michael is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in New York and an Enrolled Agent authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS. He holds memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYCPA), and the National Association of Enrolled Agents. He is a past president of the Southern Tier Chapter of NYCPA, currently serves on that chapter's executive committee, and sits on NYCPA's state board of directors. Michael's unconventional entry into the profession — starting as a paraprofessional rather than following the traditional CPA track — gave him hands-on exposure to bookkeeping and the foundational work behind quality financial reporting, an experience that continues to shape how he leads his team and serves clients today. At Mattick CPA, Michael has spearheaded the firm's integration of AI-driven workflows into tax preparation, review, and client service — always with the principle that technology should handle mechanical work so his team can focus on advisory judgment and client relationships. Michael lives in Port Crane, NY, with his wife Kelly. Outside the office, he's an avid outdoorsman — camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, water skiing, and riding ATVs — and a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
