Jeffrey Birnbach
Jeffrey Birnbach has over 30 years of experience in software development, digital data analysis, cyber security and investigations. For the past nine years he’s served as the Managing Director and a Senior Partner in Sylint LLC an internationally acclaimed provider of cyber security, investigation, assessment and digital data forensics services to governments, law enforcement agencies, global insurers, healthcare providers, NGO’s and Fortune 500 companies, where he has managed over 1,000 cases. A licensed private investigator, he is actively engaged in directing a wide range of investigations related to cyber extortion, ransomware, credential trafficking, healthcare record exposure, data exfiltration, cyber stalking, payment fraud and intellectual property theft. He also negotiates cyber extortion and ransomware incidents for insurers, commercial clients and governmental entities. Jeff serves as the Sylint’s primary liaison to local and federal law enforcement agencies, and has directed numerous investigations involving fraudulent tax returns and the theft of client data from CPA and law firms. Jeff is a frequent speaker on cyber security, incident response and investigations to diverse audiences, and has presented briefings to a wide range of groups including U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM); U.S. Secret Service - ECTF; Federal Bureau of Investigation; and, the American Bar Association, as well as conducted training seminars on cyber-crime investigations for law enforcement officers. He has been interviewed for print media and has appeared on numerous TV newscasts, providing context and commentary to developing stories related to cyber security incidents worldwide.

Donny is a recognized thought leader and educator in the fields of accounting technology, IT risk management, and performance management; his dedication to helping accountants and organizations leverage strategic technologies while proactively managing their business and technical risk is paramount. Donny also serves as an outsourced IT & Innovation “Partner” and advisor for local & regional firms and internal audit departments who lack in-house IT leadership and IT audit expertise; He helps with IT risk assessments and IT advisory services, development of the firm’s innovation strategy, streamlining of internal firm operations, and increasing staff proficiency with IT tools supporting client engagements and service delivery. Donny is co-chair of the National Conference of Lawyers and CPAs, past chairman of the AICPA’s Information Management and Technology Assurance Executive Committee, and former member of its Governing Council, Assurance Services Executive Committee, and numerous other AICPA committees and task forces. He is also a past member of the IFAC Technology Advisory Group.
