Susan Massey
Susan Massey is the VP of Tax Research at Blue J, where she leads the team responsible for the content and tax technical review of the Blue J platform. Prior to joining Blue J, she practiced for 13 years in the International and Corporate divisions of the Office of Chief Counsel, IRS, serving the last four years as a Branch Chief in Corporate. She holds a J.D. and LL.M in International & Comparative Law from Duke University School of Law.
Wesley Hartman
Wesley Hartman is the Founder of Automata Practice Development. Automata is a managed automation service provider that specializes in building automations to alleviate pain points of the accountant. Additionally, he will consult on a firm's processes and tools to help them implement and streamline their automation initiatives. He will consult with vendors on the direction their applications should take and how their application can be integrated with other applications in the accounting space. He occupies a unique position by being a computer engineer who worked on autonomous vehicles and worked for an accounting firm managing their technology. Before starting a software development business, he was the Director of Technology at public accounting firm for 15 years and has worked with information technology within the financial services industry since 2005. Wesley's strengths include introducing technology into a firm's existing processes to make them more efficient and analyzing data patterns to streamline the movement of information in systems. One of his focuses has been to implement automation to create data bridges between software packages. Wesley earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from California State University, Northridge. He is married and enjoys hosting a yearly Halloween haunted house for his local community, as well as training in Aikido.
April Walker
CPA, CGMA
April Walker is a Lead Technical Manager in the AICPA’s Tax Division. Prior to joining the AICPA in January 2016, April was in the public accounting field for twenty years, specializing in individual tax, closely held businesses and their respective owners, and not-for-profit taxation. April practiced at Blackman & Sloop, CPAs, a local firm in Chapel Hill, NC, for the past 14 years and prior to joining that firm, she worked for almost 5 years at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLP in Raleigh, NC. April is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the North Carolina Association of CPAs.
