Daniel Romano
Dan is a principal and leads Grant Thornton Advisors LLC's Not-for-Profit Tax Industry practice which serves tax-exempt organizations including colleges & universities, private foundations, cultural institutions & trade associations throughout the country. For over 30 years Dan has provided tax consulting and compliance services to tax-exempt organizations on such matters as unrelated business income, joint venture structuring, employment taxes, private benefit issues and other compliance needs. For clients, Dan has facilitated tax minimization, contract review and structuring, operational, governance and procedural reviews as it relates to tax matters. Dan has worked with numerous charities, universities, foundations, and other not-for-profit organizations across the country, including some of the most prominent institutions within their fields. Dan is a board member and treasurer of Oceanic Global Foundation and a board member of Mission Magazine and the Italian American Sport Foundation. Dan graduated from Baruch College with a BBA degree in Accounting.
Louis Curcio
CPA, JD
Louis Curcio graduated from St. Johns University with a Masters Degree in accounting in 2001. In 2004, Louis passed the CPA exam and is currently a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of CPAs. In 2009, Louis earned his Juris Doctor from Hofstra and passed the NY Bar exam. Louis is currently a member of the American Bar Association and is licensed to practice Law in New York. Louis became the Tax Director of New York University in January 2011. In October 2013, Louis was promoted to Senior Director Global Tax Compliance. In 2017, Louis was promoted to Assistant Vice President- Global Tax Compliance adding Global Finance to his job duties and becoming NYU's primary Fiscal Government contact. In 2020, Louis was promoted to Assistant Vice President - Global Payroll and Tax Compliance- adding Payroll to his portfolio.
Tracy Paglia
CPA
Tracy is a partner at Moss Adams and has practiced public accounting since 1997. She has extensive experience assisting tax-exempt organizations on compliance and consulting tax issues from formation to termination. Tracy is a tax and consulting team member on public charity, private foundation, university, association, and health care clients throughout Moss Adams. Her experience includes the redesigned Form 990, unrelated business taxable income, intermediate sanctions and compensation issues, private inurement and excess benefit transactions, charitable contribution disclosures, public disclosure requirements, application for tax-exempt status and entity formation, tax-exempt bonds, change in exempt status and the public support test, controlled organization and joint venture issues, and charitable planning options for donors. Tracy is an integral part of the training programs both internally to Moss Adams and externally to groups such as the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), LeadingAge, Council on Foundations, and American Society of Association Executives. She leads the Moss Adams tax committee for the Not-for-Profit and Government Practices and is a member of the AICPA’s Technical Resource Panel.
