The Congressional and Political Affairs team monitors and advocates on legislative and regulatory matters that affect the accounting profession. We develop Congressional testimony, engage with federally elected officials and their staff, and work with regulatory agencies to help promote sound policymaking on behalf of our members and the public.
Coalition Department of Education Letter
In a letter sent to the Department of Education, the AICPA, along with eight other organizations, expressed strong opposition to any draft regulation which would exclude accounting programs from a professional degree designation.
AICPA and State Societies Dept. of Education Letter
The AICPA and state societies urged the Department of Education to include accounting programs leading to a CPA licensure within its definition of a "professional" degree for purposes of graduate student loan eligibility under the new lending limits established by the One Big Beautiful Act.
